Grand Parents Day
Grandparents day was celebrated with lot of pomp and enthusiasm by pre-primary students on 28th Sep 2013. Grand Parents of students of classes Nur-I were invited. Students put up a small cultural show and there were some activities like Rhyme recitation, bookmark making and beading the string in which Grandparents participated enthusiastically.
Goenkan Aqua ( Inter-School Swimming Competition)
G.D. Goenka Public School, Ghaziabad played host to over 20 schools in the ‘Goenkan Aqua’-an Inter-School Swimming Competition held on 30 August, 2013.The area around the swimming pool adorned an attractive look. Participants from many schools came along with their cheering teams. The team members were welcomed warmly through a mesmerizing
water-dance done by the students of the host school. Mr. Bhanu Sachdeva (Arjun-Award recipient) and Mr. K.V. Sharma (National Swimming Coach), were the chief guests of the day. An eight-member technical committee was invited to judge the events in order to encourage fairplay. Children in the age group of 8-18 participated in as many as 22 events. They were refreshed in the end as they indulged themselves in the school Jacuzzi. Avishi Singh of G.D.Goenka School, Ghaziabad was declared the best swimmer in under 10 category. Genesis Global School bagged the ‘Champion School’ trophy.
Raksha BandhanThe festival of love and bonding between the brothers and sisters was also celebrated with gusto. Students of Class I enacted a short skit to mark the importance of the day. They depicted the story of King Humayun and Karmavati. Colourful Rakhis were made by the tiny tots which were sold to all in order to raise funds for the Uttarakhand Victims.
The students of GD Goenka celebrated 67th Independence Day with a patriotic fervor. The Principal along with the council members hoisted the national flag and every one proudly sang the national anthem in the glory of India. The day gave the students time to introspect about the feelings of patriotism and bringing about peace in the world. There was an Inter- house Hindi patriotic poem Recitation competition in which the participants recited poems by well known poets.
Community Outreach Programme The entire Uttarakhand was shattered and shaken due to the devastating cloud-burst. We vow to stand by the victims in the time of crisis. All the students of the school made their contribution in cash and kind. Each class became entrepreneurs for a day wherein they raised more funds by putting up food stalls and selling their dishes to everyone in the school. The amount collected was donated to an NGO.
Rain Dance PartyTo beat the summer heat , the tiny tots of pre primary enjoyed a rain dance party . They danced to the rhythm of the rain with their colourful umbrellas .The school lawn turned into a happy party ground.
Mango WeekIn July pre primary wing had a week long activities on King of Fruit Mango. A story narration with puppets on mango was done. A party was organized where children ate mangoes to their heart content. Children wore mango masks and headgears.
An exhibition was held in school depicting the effort put in by the students during the Summer holidays
Indo-German Exchange Programme
17 students alongwith 3 teachers had an enriching experience of visiting Wuppertal , Germany from 15th June to 30th June, 2013, under student exchange programme. The students came back with wounderful memories of the people and the beautiful land scape of Germany.
The Orientation Day was held on the 1st of April’13. The programme started with the ceremonial ‘Lighting of the Lamp’ followed by a well-synchronized ‘Dance-Drama’ based on the Human Rights laid down by the United Nations. The students mesmerized the audience with the portrayal of their international understanding & social awareness. The school Principal, Mrs. Rina Singh welcomed the new parents to the Goenkan Family.

The Investiture ceremony is one of the first formal occasions of the school where the newly selected and elected members of the School Council are formally vested with their powers and positions.
The Investiture Ceremony, for the academic year 2013-2014 was held on Friday, April 12, 2013. During the solemn ceremony, the Principal, Mrs. Rina Singh appointed all 18 members of the newly constituted Council and explained the duties that they are expected to deliver. Mrs. Singh in her speech congratulated the newly appointed members and made known her expectations from them.
This year our Pre primary students took part in plantation drive. Under this campaign our students planted trees inside the school campus and took a pledge to look after them too . Our Motto was Each one Plant one. The students of class I also enacted a small skit on how planting more trees will help in saving the environment . students of KG recited a small rhyme ‘Trees are big trees are small......’
A Special Assembly was also conducted by class IX. Students emphasized on the need of conserving and prerserving our mother earth.
Senior Sports Day- Goenkan Sparta was held on 4th February,13 for the students of classes III to IX. The weather was congenial for a long span of games on the field. The Chairman of the school was the chief guest of the day. The event began with the March Past of the four houses. This was followed by a torch run by the head girl. The various events included a dance performance depicting all the states of India, a skating show by students of class 5th & 6th and a beautiful drill by senior girls.Then students competed each other in different sporting events. Naveen was declared the athlete of the day in Senior boys category and Divyani Gambhir and Pragati were declared best athletes in Senior category Girls.
Goenkan Gaiety- An annual fete organised every year to hone the entrepreneurial skills of the students. This year it was held on 22nd December, 2012. All teachers and classes had put up stalls of delicious & mouth watering food & various fun games. Apart from that Amusement rides were other attractions for the students of Pre-primary classes.With an atmosphere of fun, all students, teachers & parents enjoyed the event a lot. The funds raised on this day was donated to the charitable trust. Junior Sports Day-
Junior Sports Day was held in G.D Goenka Ghaziabad on 15th Dec 2012. Sports are known for producing the most remarkable athletes, colorful characters, influential leaders and memorable heroes. The heroes of the day, were the students of class nursery,K.G,I and II. This day was true representation of the fact that we can make our world a better place by unfolding and unleashing the immense potential and energy present in our small kids.
'Goenkan Grandeur' A step towards maitreyi- was held in G.D.goenka Public school on 12th december, 2012 in which 8 schools participated. The events ranged from Debate, Quiz, slogan writing, Extempore, Poem recitation to Dramatics & Group dance etc. The students expressed great zeal and enthusiasm right from the start of the event till the fest finished with dance & Roch band.
It was organised to celebrate the spirit of friendship and peace to inculcate the spirit of co-ordination & social awrareness.
National School Sanitation Award- 2012
G.D.Goenka Public school, Ghaziabad has been declared as the best school having good hygiene and cleanliness in the whole U.P. and is awarded with the National School Sanitation Award- 2012 by CBSE on 28th November, 2012.
CBSE Heritage Quiz
The CBSE Heritage Quiz is one of the enrichment activities initiated by the Board with the objective of inculcating among the students intrest and appreciation for the rich heritage and diversity of our country. CBSE Heritage Quiz Regional Zonal final was held on 26th November, 2012 at G.D.Goenka Public school. 200 Students across Uttar Pradesh and Uttrakhand participated in the event.
On 14th November, 2012 five scholar students of class IX along with the Principal got the opportunity to meet President Pranab Mukherjee at his Residence.
Indo- German Exchenge Programme
To promote intercultural learning experiences, GD Goenka has taken the initiative of hosting German students along with two teachers to come and visit our school to share their learning experiences and about their culture from 12th Oct to 28th Oct .
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated by giving tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and by singing Bhajans and performance done by the students in the form of Drama.
Teachers Day- It was celebrated on 5th September & functions are organized in the school on the special day, where students present dance performances, dramas, and various other programs to entertain their teachers. This day provides for a healthy interaction between teachers and students as well.
Inter School Swimming Championship - GD Goenka Public School, played host to 17 schools on 31st August 2012 for an Inter-School Swimming Championship, ‘Goenkan Aqua’ organized in its premises. Over 130 participants participated in as many as 18 categories.
Independence Day - Independence Day was celebrated with a patriotic fervor in GD Goenka. A short cultural program was presented by the enthusiastic students of class VII A and IV B, a group song was presented by the school choir. Students gave a speech on the freedom struggle bringing home the significance of the Independence Day.
Janamashtami - We respect all religions and to prove this a celebration was arranged for the students on account of Janamashtami .The children of class I presented a special assembly on 9th August 2012. They attired themselves like Radha and Krishna. It was a vibrant program demonstrating children's creativity & enthusiasm.In the assembly children from different classes have performed to show their love and affection towards Lord Krishna.
Indo- Australian Exchange Programme-
G.D.Goenka provides intercultural learning experiences that bring global cultures together. Students of classes VIII & IX went for an exchange programme along with two teachers from 22nd July to 15th August. This trip gave the participants an opportunity to discover and explore a new culture. Participants lived with a host family while attending school, gaining a fresh perspective of Australian culture.
World Heritage day celebrated on 17th April,2012 by showcasing diffrent traditional dresses, spices, dance & music forms in the special assembly.
Investiture Ceremony- The most anxiously awaited day of the year- The Investiture Ceremony, was conducted on 16th April,2012. The newly elected council members moved ahead with a light in their hands manifesting the motto of the school- Higher, Brighter, Stronger. They took the oath of the office and were conferred with their badges.
Transformational Leadership week- " A leader is one who leads from the front & leads by example." Childrenof class IX explained the traits of a true leader during the assembly. The week also witnessed, children going to Rishikesh for a leadeship camp elections for the new council of the school was under process.
Leadership Camp A few students of class IX were taken to Haridwar-Rishikesh for a 'Leadership camp' with the intention of choosing 'Council Members'from the same. The students were selected for different posts based on-the-spot activities pertaining to speaking, leadership,teamwork etc.
The students enjoyed themselves very much and also picked up a lot of life-skills during their 2-day stay in the holy city.
Thanksgiving week - The new session began with"Thanksgiving" as the theme for the morning assembly conducted by class IX. The students thanked all the people in the school right from the menial staff to the bus drivers and conductors. Special tea-time was arranged for them in the cafeteria.
Orientation Day -
The school conducted its Orientation day on 28th March,2012. The chief Guest of the day was Mr. Nipun Goenka, Ms. Bharti Sharma (Director Franchisee schools, G.D.Goenka Group) & Mr. Rakesh Bajaj (Director Finance)The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp followed by a mesmerising song by the school choir. The four Pillors of Education" were beautifully depicted through a wonderfully chorographed dance-drama. The principal Ms. Rina Singh emphasised the need for experiential learning in order to promote holistic development.
Earth Day -GD Goenka, Ghaziabad celebrated Earth Day on 22nd April, 2011. The event commenced with the lighting of the lamp by the chief Guest Dr. Rashid Hasan, Director-Ministry of Environment and Forests. The school Principal and the Guest of Honor - Mr. Sanjay Goel planted tulsi saplings.
The students put up a very thought-provoking assembly to commemorate Earth Day. A soul-stirring song was sung by the school choir ‘Prithvi- Aarambh Se Ab Tak’ which touched the hearts of every one present followed by a dance-drama ‘Earth-The Big Bang'. Students portrayed the need to bring a radical change in our lifestyles in order to conserve our natural resources.
The function culminated with the pledge taken by the students to ‘Reuse and Recycle Paper’.
Mother's Day -G.D Goenka, Ghaziabad invited the mothers of the tiny-tots to celebrate Mothers' Day on 6th May, 2011. The school choir sang “Tu kitni Achi Hai…” that brought tears in everyone's eyes. Children performed a small skit to portray the love that mothers have for their children.
A self-composed song by our music trainer Ms. Jyoti “Meethi Loriyon Se Sulati” was sung by junior Goenkans in front of their Mothers which mesmerized the audience.

Investiture Ceremony -G.D.Goenka, Ghaziabad celebrated the Investiture Ceremony on 11May2011. The much awaited ceremony started with the lighting of lamp by our honorable guest Dr. B. S. Sahay (Director I.I.M, Raipur) followed by a melodious song “I have a dream.....” which was sung by the school choir. The music played by the band instilled pride in the students as they marched past the dias. A well synchronized fusion dance left the audience spell bound.
Badges were pinned by the honorable guests. With a sense of pride and responsibility the new perfects took their places on the podium and took an oath to be honest, dedicated & unbiased in carrying out their duties. Our respected Principal congratulated the new appointees.
After an enlightening speech of the chief guest, the vote of thanks was proposed by Pre-Primary Incharge Ms. Chhaya Singh. The occasion came to an end with the National Anthem.
