We, at G D Goenka Public School, Raj Nagar Extension, understand the constant need for guidance required by our growing adolescents. Therefore, on 6th February 2019, we organised yet another workshop dealing with the challenges faced by adolescents girls. We strongly believe that mothers are the first teachers of our students. The mother-daughter relationship is a special bond which spans over the years with laughter, worry, tears, and friendship. There is a sense of trust which can not be broken. For this reason, we invited the Goenkan mothers to become the torch-bearers for their adolescent girls. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Shailini Aggarwal and Dr. Alpana Kansal. They gave a comprehensive understanding of the anatomy of the female body and its gradual yet inevitable changes. They discussed about the importance of healthy and complete diet in growing up. Further, the workshop elaborated upon the change in the dynamics of a mother-daughter relationship from a parent to mentor and subsequently to a friend. The school Principal, Ms. Vandana Midha encouraged mothers to empathetically understand the emotions and challenges of their child. The facilitators openly discussed the concerns and challenges of mothers and daughters as well. The workshop was informative, active and enlightening, with the end result of bringing the mothers and daughters closer than ever before.
